Still Dropping into Minecraft to Check on my Farm

Ah, yes, a glorious sunrise in Minecraft valley amongst the idling cattle, rolling waters, and orange pattern of rain among my hermitic existence in the randomly generated terrain. For the record, I don’t totally remember exactly what it was that I set out to do to do with all this stuff. There is definitely stuff in this game though–glorious stuff! First off, relax. Also, if you need to relax you might want to try creative mode when you first start the game. There are two modes, survival, and creativity. Survival includes fleeing and thumping creatures with sticks of all sorts,… Read the rest

Spotlight: Greak Feels like Hollow Knight But Is… Different (Nintendo Switch)

Amongst the trove of pale-skinned characters, glowing misty caverns, and punchy character abilities, this one might be new to you. Greak: Memories of Azur is similar to platformers like Hollow Knight and Undertale, perhaps even Ori or maybe Hoa, sure. Don’t worry if you haven’t heard of any of those! What Greak offers is a borderline cozy adventure with very unique, engaging gameplay that is an experience of its own. Greak, Adara, and Raydel Meet your identities (triple) as you take the role, in a rotate-at-will-shift, three siblings as they puzzle and spelunk through the beautiful world of Azur. A… Read the rest

Fall Guys is Still Awesome and Now It’s a Freebie on Nintendo Switch

So, the idea behind Fall Guys is this: you create a jelly bean-like thing character and design them, then you push play and skydive (on a load screen) into a pink, purple, and cotton candy blue obstacle course of hilarious wonder with 60 other jelly beans. If you make it to the finish line in time before at least 40 players you qualify for the next round. If not you have to start over. Fall Guys is A Squiggly Silly Delightful Game I was so pumped when the Medieval Pack came out with this Wizard costume, it is so perfect you have… Read the rest

Knights and Bikes is the Best Game About Adventure & Imagination

I knew when I read the description of Knights and Bikes on the Nintendo eShop page, and the bounty of awards adorning it, that this was probably going to be pretty cool. It explores some great themes like imagination, curiosity, and adventure. Also, it’s about finding those adventures in a place you don’t need to journey far to find. I’ll be exploring some of these topics in my experience with Knights and Bikes, and tell you a little bit about the highlights of the game’s progression. If you’re new to this blog, this is what I do in all my… Read the rest

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is Pretty Solid, And There Are Cheat Codes

The subtitle “It’s All Here” says it all. I’ve tried a few Marvel games over the years, and I’ve seen a good handful of the movies. Never really delved into the comics, but I feel they are well represented in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. I went into this game thinking maybe it’d be isolated to Avengers characters without much divergence. There are PLENTY of Marvel Heroes in this game though, and you’ll have no trouble finding them. Within the first couple of chapters of the game, I played or interacted with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, She-Hulk, Wasp,… Read the rest

Slime Rancher, the Original Game, is the One That Started it All

You’re an adventurous protagonist named Beatrix who has settled down on her uncle’s ranch on an alien planet where the landscape is occupied by canyons of shiny cute blobs of a variety of species and value. Also some chickens. Which… some slimes eat. Moving on. Yer not from around here, are you? So, what is the point of this? Or the goal, to be a little more specific. Well, it’s basically a high-quality vacuum cannon survival sim. This game is super wholesome–and fun. The slimes remind me of the sparrows that visit our backyard in the daytime to get food… Read the rest

Taking Another Look at the Harry Potter LEGO Video Games

Welcome to Hogwarts! Okay, it usually takes a chapter to get there in the books, but the welcome is there. I’m about to tell you about one of the most fan-driven franchises you’ve ever heard of, “Harry Potter!” Oh, you’ve heard of that one…? Okay… Have you ever heard of “LEGO!” That one too? Okay, GOOD!? It’s time for my LEGO Harry Potter poetic ode. I’m not totally certain when it started, but back in the old school days of Nintendo Wii, maybe PC, there was a very exciting release of Harry Potter books/films 1-4 and eventually 5-7. Today, you… Read the rest
