How to Write Game Reviews

So you want to know how to write game reviews? As I glide through a tremendous Steam list full of unique reviews, it’s actually pretty awesome that gamers are getting involved and writing thoughtful reviews even though some are, not inaccurately, candid. Praising reviews and critical reviews both serve a purpose. Even a 5-word sentence that reads something like “Just spins me around infinitely” is actually helpful, because if the game costs $20, you might have a point. But let me tell you how, for me, nice reviews are still the best review. I don’t want to teach a gaming… Read the rest

Indie Demo Reviews 3/4/2021

So here’s a brief compilation of some cool indie demo reviews of games I played recently, which deserve a little cred. (Please note: some of these games have been released since I tried them, so they might be associated with a price in the Steam Store links.) Indie Demo Reviews 1: Jennifer Wilde: Unlikely Revolutionaries This demo is super short, but it lets you try out the mechanics and the art style. It’s a hidden object story game, that has a grand plot involving the ghost of famous author Oscar Wilde in the jazz age Parisian roaring twenties. This game… Read the rest

8 FREE Indie Android Games Reviewed 2/11/2021

I cleaned this article up, and it’s a lot more consistent with everything else here now. I’ve been sifting through back logs like Gandalf the Grey in Minas Tirith. I’ve got some great new resources for keeping my eye on the Android app market now. I’m not here to be stingy, so if you want to know what it is, check out this awesome aggregator: appagg.com. It will change your world, if you’re a nut-job like me and catalogue Android games. Anyway! PlayStore can occasionally be a bit heavy on the monetizing. But once in a while there is a… Read the rest

5 Cool Indie Switch Games in 2021

I’ve been meditating on a few game on my Switch that I simply didn’t have a lot to say about but that I enjoyed playing. So, as you my guess, you’re in for a treat. (P.S. The numerical order of the games has no significance other than organization.) 1. Part-Time UFO I love this game. 80 Days, Ordia, and Eloh: Visually Brilliant Android Games

This is a short list I made ages ago when I first started. The formatting is kinda all over the place, but some chipper descriptions of some good Android games I was playing at the time. 1. 80 Days https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inkle.eightydays&hl=en_US&gl=US Bon, voyage! NES Nostalgia: Games From My Youth

I wanted to call this “NES Games That Influenced Me” or something like that. Honestly though, I can’t totally remember WHY I remember these games, only that they evoke some mood or emotion when I play them. I guess you could call it nostalgia. Yeah, that’s probably it. The main reason for this is I wanted to try writing about something I haven’t tried. So here we go, six games I played when I was younger and what I can tell you about their place for Mr. Dave Pizza in the elusive 80’s and early 90’s. Note, I did not… Read the rest

5 Great Itch.IO Games to Try

I recently, officially delved into a world which is mysterious yet intriguing on the game review front to me. That world is Itch.io. If you are unfamiliar with this website, it is an all inclusive community of solo-dev and indie dev game projects. It’s got everything from free games to digital game building resources. It’s also host to some pretty weird stuff, and I’m okay with that, because there is so much creative flow happening here. This is like SoHo for game artists. I have already delved right into 5 games that were free demos. Note: it is customary for… Read the rest
