Potion Craft is the New Alchemy Game That Everyone Loves

Okay, let’s talk about this brilliant game, Potion Craft. The idea is you are an alchemist, your regular fantasy world potion maker basically. Without too much ado, you take over an old wizard’s house and are tasked to turn it into a flourishing potion shop. Everything involves active interaction with objects to create, discover, and learn new potions. This game kind of reminds me of Good Pizza, Great Pizza, only medieval with healing potions and mythical lands, developed on a sturdy scroll of parchment left in the clay pot in the corner. These trade-style games are starting to really entertain… Read the rest

Planet Zoo Remains A Suprisingly Pleasant Favorite

Planet Zoo is a zoo simulator. You can play in either career, challenge, or sandbox mode. A lot of it can be played online, but it’s not necessary. I played for a couple of hours in career mode. It’s one of the few times where I’ve played a game tutorial and felt like I was doing some positive with my time by learning to play a game. That’s just the way this game is. Personal revelation: I love animals! Always have, and always will. When I travel, one of my first attractions is usually a zoo, aquarium, or natural history… Read the rest

“Cyberpunk” as a Genre And Not Just 2077

It’s everywhere now. It’s downloaded into your cortex. Drips off the neon katakana of your tube hotel vacancy sign. It’s hidden in the channel tuned to static on your peripheral, cyphered, cybernetic headset. It provides the foundation as well as the motivation for things high above its pay grade, but it is still only a literary genre–beyond video games. “Cyberpunk.” I’m talking sim stim, black mesa stuff here, not Grand Theft Hovercar. It’s very surreal to me concerning some of the things which have happened since my primordial soup sleuthing sci-fi books as a teen–with next title suggestions in the… Read the rest

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is Pretty Solid, And There Are Cheat Codes

The subtitle “It’s All Here” says it all. I’ve tried a few Marvel games over the years, and I’ve seen a good handful of the movies. Never really delved into the comics, but I feel they are well represented in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. I went into this game thinking maybe it’d be isolated to Avengers characters without much divergence. There are PLENTY of Marvel Heroes in this game though, and you’ll have no trouble finding them. Within the first couple of chapters of the game, I played or interacted with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, She-Hulk, Wasp,… Read the rest

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is The Ultimate Mario Game (And You Can’t Have It)

This is my best–and one and only–article about Super Mario. Indie games, step aside for a moment. Super Mario 3D All-Stars for all parties interested, is a special release from Nintendo this year for the Switch which contains three classic Mario games spruced up for HD and available for a limited time offer in physical as well as digital form. They’re serious about the limited time too, which has some scratching their heads but it is what it is. I don’t sign on as Dave Ubercollector Pizza instead of Dave Pizza, but I believe this is what is called a… Read the rest
